$29/month flat · No credit card required for trial

Roughly 9% of subscription revenue is lost every month to failed payments — expired cards, declined charges, insufficient funds. Most of it is recoverable, but only if someone actually emails the customer and gives them a way to update their card.

Stripe's built-in Smart Retries help with about a quarter of failed payments by silently retrying the card. The other three quarters need a human nudge — and most bootstrapped founders don't have time to send those emails by hand, or budget for the $200+/month tools that automate it.

That's the gap Hoard Recover fills.

Three steps. No code, no integration work, no separate account.

  1. 1

    Connect Stripe.

Install Hoard Recover from the Stripe App Marketplace. Two-minute OAuth flow. No API keys, no webhook wiring.

  2. 2

    We watch for failed payments.

The moment a payment fails, Hoard Recover starts a four-email recovery sequence — friendly nudge, gentle reminder, urgency, last warning.

  3. 3

    Your customer updates their card.

Every email links to a one-click hosted page where your customer can fix their billing without logging in. As soon as they do, the sequence stops and the recovery is logged.

What you get

Automatic dunning sequence

When a payment fails, Hoard Recover sends a four-email sequence over twelve days — friendly nudge, gentle reminder, urgency, last warning — until the card is updated or the customer cancels.

Pre-dunning alerts

Cards expire on a predictable schedule. Hoard Recover catches them before the failure happens and emails your customer to update.

One-click payment update page

Every email includes a tokenized link to a hosted page where your customer can update their card without logging in. PCI-compliant, mobile-friendly, branded with your logo.

About

I'm a founder. I built Hoard Recover because I needed it for my own Stripe account, and the existing tools were priced for teams ten times my size. Churnkey starts at $199/month. Baremetrics Recover is a $129/month bolt-on to a $129/month analytics product. Stunning is in the same range.

For a bootstrapped founder doing $5k–$30k MRR, that's too much to spend. So I built the version I wished existed: a focused dunning tool, $29 flat, installed from the Stripe Marketplace in two minutes, that does one thing well.

That's the version you've been waiting for. Try it free for 14 days.

Frequently asked questions

How is this different from Stripe's built-in Smart Retries?

Stripe's Smart Retries silently re-attempt the customer's card at optimized times, which recovers about a quarter of failed payments. The other three quarters need the customer to actually update their card — which means emailing them and giving them a way to fix it. Hoard Recover does that part. The two work together; you should leave Smart Retries on.

How long does setup take?

Two minutes to install from the Stripe Marketplace, then about ten minutes in the dashboard to confirm your sender name and review the email templates. The default templates work out of the box.

Can I customize the emails?

Yes. You can edit the subject line and body of all four emails, change the sender name, and adjust the timing intervals. The defaults are sensible, so most customers don’t change much.

What payment processors do you support?

Stripe only. Other processors are a possibility down the road, but Hoard Recover is built for Stripe right now.

Do you take a percentage of recovered revenue?

No. $29/month flat, regardless of how much you recover. You keep 100%.

Is there a free trial?

Yes. 14 days, no credit card required. You'll have time for at least one payment failure to occur and be recovered, so you can see exactly what the product is worth before paying.

What happens to the dunning sequence if my customer pays?

The sequence stops immediately. Hoard Recover listens for the payment success event from Stripe and ends the sequence the moment the customer is back in good standing.

Who's behind this?

One solo founder. I built Hoard Recover because I needed it for my own Stripe account and the existing tools were priced for teams ten times my size.

Guard your gold.

Stop letting failed payments slip through unchallenged.
